Here in Montalcino, 2015 and 2016 have both been years to remember.
2015 has been declared the vintage of the century – mature tannins, great acidity, opulent wines ready to be enjoyed sooner rather than later. 2016 is a stunning vintage as well, but with different characteristics: more structured wines with intense tannins and a longer persistence. As Monica Larner would say “2015 was a warm, sunny and rich vintage whilst the 2016 was direct, intense, and linear”.
